Asklepion’s history comes accross to 400 B.C. this health center was built as to be devoted to Asklepions, the health god has been a famaus health center tiil 500 A.D. Asklepieon prowes that Bergama was an important health city. Entrance gate of Asklepion is named ‘’Virankapý’’ today and it is stil in approach. In some saying, it was written on the door that ‘’death cannot come in’’ and any patient who was deadly ill could not be let come in.
After coming inside througt the door, patienrs used to walk on holy road that longs 650 meter. They used to drink healing water and get a shower with it and it used to start to cure for patient. There were many cure methods such as music, water, medicines, herbs and surgical operantions. One of hte physicians who had been educated here , was Galenos. Column with sneaks being symbol of medicine was also founds there. Furthermore, there is a theatre in this place with capacity 3500 people and it stil useful today.
